Tokai Shoji was founded in Komagome, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, and began selling screen printing materials and equipment.

Tokai Shoji Co., Ltd. was established, the plate-making department was launched to begin photoengraving for screen printing.

Tokai Shoji Co., Ltd. established the Gifu Factory in Hachiman Town, Gujo District, Gifu Prefecture (now Hachiman Town, Gujo City), and began manufacturing screen printing machines.
